I asked you, mother, I begged you but I couldn't convince you not to let me marry so early. Not to let me marry so early, not to marry this year, neither this spring nor this summer, not before the autumn comes, autumn, my dear mother, when girls start gathering at working parties and dances, so that I could go freely with all my trimmings and adornments. But you didn't listen to me, dear, and found me a bridegroom too early, mother, too early.

about

Village Music, Ethno Funk by Muladhara Domian July 2021
The vocals and some instruments (05.) are taken from old Folk recording from around the world.
What might have inspired me to do such a record, you might ask. Well, I love folk-lore, I love the stories they tell and I love to work my magic into it as if I would do recording with these Artists.

Since ancient times the most varied peoples and cultures have left their traces around the world, especially in Southeastern Europe. The variable and complex history of this region is also reflected musically in an extraordinary wealth of forms and in specific development of the region itself.
The joy of singing, which is unadulterated by modern values displays the harmony, not just with one self but being in harmony with one another and your surroundings.

Vocals: Various Artists
All Instruments: Tom Meibusch
recorded & produced by Tom Meibusch

01. Tsintskaro
Gregorian Folk Song, Kakhetian lyrical song - Hamlet Gonashvili, 1990

02. South East Morobe
Music of New Guinea. The music of these Melanesians reflects their interests: fighting, love, trade and initiation rites. 132 languages have been spoken here.

03. A Klephtic Song
From Kandhila, the Peleponnesos, Greece. Influences from the Epoch of the Osmanli Turks can be heard.

04. Molih ta, majcho i molih
A Smolyan Folk Song, of Smolyan, Rhodope. Bulgarian folklore has endured until recent times, changing only gradually in conjunction with the evolution of life within the country. The virtuosity of these ensemble performers is the virtuosity of the Bulgarian peasant. He remains untrained, only his repertoire changes to include songs from all regions of the country.

05. New Ireland
Roots of new Guinea.

06. Guruli Naduri
Gregorian Folk Song, a Gurian work song - Anzor Erkomaishvili, Badri Toidze, 1990

Molih ta, majcho i molih - Lyrics:
I asked you, mother, I begged you
but I couldn't convince you
not to let me marry so early.
Not to let me marry so early,
not to marry this year,
neither this spring nor this summer,
not before the autumn comes,
autumn, my dear mother,
when girls start gathering
at working parties and dances,
so that I could go freely
with all my trimmings and adornments.
But you didn't listen to me, dear,
and found me a bridegroom
too early, mother, too early.

about

Muladhara Domain Wellington, New Zealand

My name is Tom Meibusch. I play & record music since early 80ties. Starting out with a borrowed Fostex 4-Track tape recorder and never stopped since. Music has always been a big part in my life & I feel lucky that the creativity never left me. Though I never pursued a career as a professional musician, I still can't imagine Life without playing music and sharing it with others. ... more
